Here are a few Washington State boating safety tips:
1. Always wear a life jacket and make sure that it is the proper size.
2. Keep the weight in the boat to a minimum. Overweight boats are more prone to capsizing.
3. As with driving, boating and alcohol don't mix. Please do not drink while boating.
4. Wear clothes for the water temperature, not the air temperature.
5. In the case of capsizing, stay with the boat. It will still provide a degree of flotation and will assist rescuers in finding you.
